Thanks for stopping by. My services, in person and in print, are really all about YOU--helping you look and feel your best. But I imagine you also want to a thing or two about the guy you're considering working with.

and Other Disreputable Types
Rascal Fiddlers and Twangling Jacks
I’m interested in—obsessed with—finding ways to move that can make you feel better, look better, and function better in every aspect of your life. All of my credentials stem from this lifelong passion.
I’ve been a professional trainer since 2003 and since then have helped people from diverse backgrounds achieve their fitness goals.
From corporate types to schoolteachers to luminaries in the entertainment industry, I’ve helped clients lose weight, bulk up, and feel their best in record time.
Finally—and I think, most importantly—I’ve helped to reshape how people feel about, and think about their bodies, so they feel great 24-7.
A few highlights:
25 Years of Fitness:
I started training regularly in high school, back in the late 80’s.
My wife and kids can attest that I rarely miss workouts, no matter how stressful or distracting my life becomes.
If there’s a workout program or tool out there, I’ve probably sampled it.
When I find one that is useful and effective, I implement it into my clients' routine.
Nationally Recognized Expert:
In the last few years, I’ve become a go-to resource for some of the top fitness publications in the country.
I’ve written dozens of articles for national magazines, including Men’s Health, Experience Life (where I am a contributing editor), and T-Nation.com.
I have also co-written two books on fitness:
The Exercise Cure (Rodale) and
Your New Prime (HarperWave), and written several more, including Weight Loss After 40, and the Six Week Lean Muscle Up Plan, both published by Hearst.
I have also presented numerous lectures on the Feldenkrais Method® at, among other places, the IDEA Fitness Summit in San Diego.

Somatic expertise:
In May 2013, I completed the rigorous four-year certification program to be a Guild-Certified Practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method®--an in-depth system for improving body awareness, and movement quality and competence.
Feldenkrais can be used as therapy, to alleviate pain and improve function, and as a way to improve on already-excellent functioning.
Feldenkrais is the most comprehensive and effective way of affecting functional change in the body. For more on my use of Feldenkrais in one-on-one sessions, click here.
Athletic Background:
I hold a black belt in Shorin-Ryu karate, have experience in aikido, jeet kun do, boxing, and stage fighting (armed and unarmed).
For two years, I was a competitive triathlete, and finished as high as second in my age group in numerous events. I currently participate in fitness competitions and placed in the top five in my age group at the DEKA Strong World Championships in 2022.
Certification:
2008: CSCS-NSCA (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association)
